As a Style Coach I often get asked ‘what do I wear to ______ type of wedding?’. Whether it’s black tie, beach, cocktail, country casual, or traditional, knowing what to wear to a wedding can be overwhelming. This month’s Style Q&A is all about weddings, enjoy!
Question:“We are going to a wedding in Maine next month (October) that is supposed to be semi-formal on the beach. I just checked the weather and the average high is 56 and average low is 41 so it’s going to be a little cooler than I was thinking. What kind of dress would you recommend for such an occasion?” –Ellie
Megan’s Answer:
Ann Taylor Refined Matte Jersey Ruched Dress, Lauren Merkin Caroline Python Clutch, Ivanka Trump Linea Mini Leopard Wedge, J.Crew Pearl Ball Choker Necklace
For chilly weather sleeves are a great option and you don’t have to think about putting together ‘an outfit’. Make a classic black dress more interesting with 3 fall trends, animal print, choker necklace and burgundy! If you are a cold natured person, try this look with a pair of black opaque (can’t see through them) tights. AND opt for a wedge for a beach wedding so you don’t get stuck in the sand.
Black Halo Jackie O Two Tone Dress, Alice + Olivia Sequined Jacket, Belle by Sigerson Morrison Wallis Nude Wedge, Ivanka Trump Ashleigh Small Flap Bag in Ivory, Kate Spade ‘Bright Spot’ Stud Earrings
For a trendsetter look, try a chic color block dress with a statement making jacket. With so much going on in your outfit, keep your accessories neutral and minimal.
Zara Straight Lace Dress, Miu Miu Swarovski crystal-embellished ballet flats, Zara Jewelled Party Box Bag, Kate Spade ‘Sweet Zinnia’ Chandelier Earrings
Again sleeves are a great option for a fall wedding! I’m loving the lace trend for fall, and this dress is pretty timeless too thanks to the sheath shape. A dressy ballet flat is always appropriate for a semi-formal wedding, especially on the beach.
Have fun at the wedding!
Yours in Style,
Megan
