I recently had the pleasure of interviewing the Alabama-based designer, Billy Reid for Alabama Magazine (check out the upcoming July issue!).  Shortly after my interview with the designer, he was named the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Menswear Designer of the Year!!  And let me tell ya this is not to be taken lightly…this is one of the ultimate awards in the industry.

Now Billy is giving back to his state with his Alabama Gulf Seafood series of hats and t-shirts.  Not only does a portion of the proceeds benefit the Alabama Conservation and Natural Resources Foundation, but also is a way to market the incredible (and delicious!) Alabama Gulf Seafood.

The t-shirt and hat collection designed by Billy Reid features fishing boats, crabs and oysters along with the Alabama Gulf Seafood mark.

“The time was right to throw the support of our brand behind efforts to celebrate the culture and history of the beautiful Gulf coast along with the seafood that comes from coastal waters,” Reid said. “Chefs and foodies have long known about great Southern culinary traditions like barbecue and grits, and it is time that we amplify our amazing coastal cuisine as well.”- Billy Reid
