EEEEkkkkk…so exciting I felt so professional seeing my chair at the Lela Rose show prominently displaying my name & affiliation So day 4 of fashion week & I started it off right with the GORGEOUS Lela Rose show…. it of course always helps when the PR team leaves you a fab swag bag in your seat! Swag bag= Stila lip glosses + Ted Gibson hair products + lush body creams + some panties haha!
Bergdorf Goodman’s Fashion Director, Linda Fargo sitting front row at Lela Rose…I ADORE HER! And I had just had the insane pleasure of walking by Paris Vogue’s Editor in Chief, Carine Roitfeld on the way to the Lela Rose show! I died.
The Lela Rose collection was every Southern girls dream…lovely colors like magenta, coral, orange, vibrant green, and of course some neutrals. Feminine & flirty dresses for every occasion…
Her Spring 2011 collection was inspired by the city of Lima, Peru with its diverse array of textiles, patterns, and architecture…you can see these elements in the details like the embroidery along the waistband & a strong geometric design in this top.
This looks like a traditional Peruvian ensemble gone modern & feminine. Lovely colors!
All of the looks were paired with Lela Rose for Payless shoes…cannot wait til they hit the stores! Colorful wedges & heels that were of the same color palette as her collection.
The sheer trend is going to be huge for Spring 2011…love the cut out illusions in this top.
The hair is reminiscent of Alexander Wang’s Fall 2009 show…the side braid is one of my favorite hair looks for fall & spring!
One of my favorite dresses from fashion week…I could 100% see myself wearing this to a party with some colorful heels. The tulle beautifully engulfs the female form…she has a true talent for draping.
Lela Rose channeled the Nina Ricci dresses from a few years back, with the dress hitting mid-calf in the front & then trailing behind her.
An updated gingham…these dresses would be the perfect debutante or gala dress!
One of my FAVORITE shows by far!! Merci Lela Rose!
IN THE AMERICAN EXPRESS SKY BOX AT LINCOLN CENTER…
I was invited to the fabulous AMEX Sky Box for an exclusive ‘tweet up’ with Alison Brie of Mad Men (left) & Jennine Tamm of Independent Fashion Bloggers (right). It was amazing..Alison plays Trudy Campbell on the show & dished to us her favorite outfits from the show & even all about the traditional undergarments they have to wear…pointy bras, corseted pieces, and more! She told us she especially loved the cobalt blue fitted dress with a boatneck neckline from the JFK assignation episode.
AT THE CHICTOPIA CONFERENCE…
Chictopia is an online fashion community that allows people all over the world to share their personal style…what’s not to love about that?! I attended the Chictopia conference during fashion week where experts in the industry shared with us their views & knowledge on topics like social media, trendsetters, online visibility, and technology.
Above from left to right: Helen Zhu the CEO of Chictopia, Susan Kroger Founder of Modcloth, Jasmine Zhwang of the blog Transient WIthdrawal, and Dino-Ray Ramos the Contributing Editor of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Belinda (her blog is Pins & Needles) & I soaking up all the fashion knowledge at the Chictopia Conference.
Today I wore a vintage cobalt blue slip, a Free People black sheer dress, a Gestuz gold cropped jacket emblazoned with metal pieces (from Swank!), Elizabeth & James wedges, and Marc Jacobs Collection bag.
AT THE CYNTHIA STEFFE SHOW AT EYEBEAM….
My fashion mentor, Arlene Goldstein, the Fashion Director of Belk invited me to the Cynthia Steffe show during fashion week. It was invigorating chatting with her about the latest trends, designers, and of course we had to critique the show! While the venue was very cool made better with champagne on the rainy afternoon, the collection to me was only so-so.
The color palette was on trend with neutrals, kelly green, and pops of magenta, purple, & blue. And I did really like the updated anoraks, leather trimmed capes, & flouncy dresses…but honestly nothing else looked very fresh, new, & exciting. Oh well, Arlene & I still had a faaaabbbbulous time
My love at the show: the updated magenta anorak…How cool are the open toe clog meets duck boot?! Probably one of the freshest things at this show!
I did enjoy the racer back element to this cobalt blue dress..
Sexy & chic leather hooded caplet with leather trimmed shorts…another on trend look.
Love the leather bandeau top! I saw quite a few fashionistas in NYC sporting the bandeau top in lace & spandex peaking out beneath their vest or dress…I actually really like this trend if done right that is.
Arlene informed me that Cynthia Steffe sold her design house a few years ago & so here is the new designer, Shaun Kearney.
BEST DRESSED AT THE CYNTHIA STEFFE SHOW…
This fashionista’s outfit was so perfectly balanced & yet completely insane & amazing! The nubby, chunky sweater contrasted with her biker shorts & then bad a$$ booties with socks! omg. I was probably creepily starring at her outfit for awhile there, haha! I wish I had gotten a picture of her booties as the heels & toes were studded, riveted, & ‘blinged’ out!
SOOOOO WHAT’D YA THINK?! STAY TUNED ONE MORE DAY OF FASHION WEEK TO COME!!
